Our Story...
What started as a hobby to a 9 year old has since developed into a decade long dedication to jewellery design, child development and education.

If there is one thing you cannot control as a parent, it is the gifts and abilities your child will be blessed with at birth. This is something my family, who are all academically inclined, had to accept about this anomaly of a child they were raising. While my mother both funded and supported my artistic choices in school, I still ended up pursuing a law degree at Wits University. It was during my time at university, that I 'fed' my creativity and subsequently made my first African inspired collection for Elegance Jewellers in Melrose Arch, under the name Butter Jewellery.

Through features in publications like Vogue UK, Top Billing, Destiny and Forbes Magazine, (to name a few) what was initially a hobby, became my chosen career path. As the business grew, we supplied jewellery to a number of boutiques around the country, worked with SA Fashion Week and later opened our first store in Parkhurst, Johannesburg.

With an endless desire to learn and constantly challenge myself, I started working at Elegance Jewellers as Brand Manager to their successful Nom Nom brand, while simultaneously running my store. Having dedicated a decade to jewellery design through Butter Jewellery, time for a new venture came in the form of Bead Bar.
Bead Bar focuses on the early development in children, specifically, the development of fine motor skills. We have curated activities that focus on said development and offer them as arts and crafts activities at school or home and as entertainment at birthday parties. Our services allow children to learn, through play. From beading, decoupage and spelling, to painting, building and crafting, kids are able to effortlessly develop skills both at home and at school.
Over the last two years, Bead Bar has grown exponentially, going from a one (wo)man show to a team of 4 and working with kids from ages 2-16. This has allowed us to spread our wings even further and offering our products and services throughout the country.

In 2021, we officially started offering our services as extra mural activities at nursery, pre-primary and primary schools across Gauteng. We are always thrilled when different schools and organisations approach us with the desire to have our services offered to their kids. We are further looking at opening our first 'external Bead Bar branch' in Plettenberg Bay towards the end of the year.
Our story is one with endless growth and continues to focus on a love and appreciation of a gift I was blessed with at birth.
